Description
Making sure gifted students have quality instruction and challenging assignments is widely popular in the education world. But do you know exactly what it means to be gifted and why it matters? This six-hour course, “Identification & Assessment of the Gifted,” addresses issues surrounding gifted students and practical ways to identify them.
Lisa Van Gemert, a leading voice in gifted education, shares an overview of the history of gifted education and its importance today. Educators will also learn how to tell whether or not a student is gifted by using different tests and assessments. Teachers who have a thorough understanding of how to identify and assess gifted students will be able to equip and challenge these students better.
In this informative course educators will learn:
- What it means to be gifted
- Characteristics of gifted children
- How to test intelligence
- The importance of CLD populations
- Traits of twice-exceptional students

6 hours of what testing looks like is not a valuable use of my time… what I should be learning is how to identify potential gifted students that have not previously been identified & how to address their needs.

Great resource.
Sandra – FORT STOCKTON ISD (verified owner) –
Very useful information.
Charlie – KILLEEN ISD (verified owner) –
The handouts we are asked to print out for use do not follow along with the presenter. When told to go to a certain page of the notes… it is not what she is talking about.
Humor is useful, if appropriate. Distasteful humor has rarely helped.
