In this course, Birdie Chesanek offers hands-on ideas to help bridge the gap between verbal and nonverbal intelligence for children from low-SES backgrounds. In this make-and-take session, Ms. Chesanek reviews educational issues that may be present when teaching students from low-SES backgrounds, explores strategies to bridge the gap between verbal and nonverbal intelligence, and then provides plans for using those strategies in various content areas.
In this 1-hour course, you will learn to:

It doesn’t feel like it will add a lot of time to planning (especially over the course of the 9 weeks of initial implementation.) I like that students are encouraged to draw to get their thinking going, but not draw for detail (if that makes sense.)
