Description
Motivation and achievement are common characteristics of gifted children, but how do we help the G/T students who aren’t meeting to their full potential? In “Motivation and Underachievement”, a 1-hour course, James T. Webb, Ph.D. dispels the myth that every gifted child is excelling in every area. He also provides strategies for identifying core issues and motivating students to their full potential.
You will learn:
- What it means for a G/T child to be unmotivated
- Four main reasons why gifted children underachieve
- Factors that enhance and facilitate student growth
- Practical strategies you can use in the classroom

I thought it was a great discussion on lack of motivation for highly gifted students. It did not, however, give sufficient information on specific strategies but more of an overview. I still thought it was highly valuable and informative.

I thought this course did a great job explaining how and why a gifted child may become unmotivated and how to help turn things around for such a learner.

Very thoughtful and good reminders that teaching is not just about the subject and material.

This course is good because it reminds us of what motivation is. (Not only in gifted and talented students but regular students as well.)

I really enjoyed this course. I am inspired to become the one teacher that my students can reflect on and say that I made a difference for them. I am however saddened to hear that one good teacher can hold the students for 5 years of mediocre teachers and 2 years of a poor teachers.
