Description

No one can be a perfectionist because no one is perfect. And perfectionism is an occupational hazard of the gifted. Although giftedness and perfectionism often go hand-in-hand, perfectionism can have many “faces” and may look different in each individual. In this engaging and practical course, Lisa Van Gemert, M.Ed.T., explains how damaging perfectionism can be and how its strengths can be harnessed for good.

In this 1-hour course you will learn to:

  • Identify the five faces of perfectionism in gifted children
  • Build strategies to change perfectionism from unhealthy to healthy
  • Classify global failure from beneficial adversity
  • Utilize Barbara Clark’s model for overcoming failure

  22. Ashten – CARROLLTON-FARMERS BRANCH ISD (verified owner)

I liked the format in which this course was presented (the lecturer was speaking to me, not a recording of them speaking to a class), however I still think that the model of listening to a lengthy lecture online is not a good way to share important material and highlight key points.

  35. Melinda – CARROLLTON-FARMERS BRANCH ISD (verified owner)

A lot of the videos did not play. I had to skip quite a few and miss out on information. Others I was able to skip the first 10 seconds and then the video would play.

  36. Hillary – CARROLLTON-FARMERS BRANCH ISD (verified owner)

This course didn’t work properly. Slides would pause on their own continuously after a few seconds of playing. While I quite enjoyed the content of Core 1, this specific section over “Perfectionism in the Gifted Child” didn’t work and was quite annoying and hard to take notes on and follow. All of the previous 5 sections worked great. They played continuously until I specifically paused it.

A bit too many personal stories and the video itself was very choppy and in most parts difficult to follow due to the need to constantly click
