Description
It used to be that intelligence and giftedness were solely based on I.Q. and test scores. As our understanding of giftedness and the brain has expanded, the means of assessing and identifying gifted students have also expanded. In this course, “Screening, Assessment, and Identification of the Gifted”, Joyce Juntune Ph.D., draws from her vast knowledge and experience in gifted education to present invaluable tools for identifying gifted students using a variety of different methods.
In this 6-hour course, you will learn about:
- Definitions and unique characteristics of giftedness
- The role of intelligence in gifted students
- Methods of screening students for signs of giftedness
- Suggestions and guidelines for gifted programs
- Scoring tests
- Differences between testing boys and girls
And much more!

This course is an eye opening on how teachers can identify, and work with not only gifted students; but also, with dual language students who are developing two languages at the same time in an academic setting. Many of the teaching actives proposed in this course can be used to teach, and expand our dual language students academic literacy.

Please either lower the volume of the male narrator voice or raise the levels for Dr. Juntune. As it stands, I had to raise the volume to be able to hear the good doctor, and then my eardrums get blasted out when we get to a slide that’s narrated by the male voice. This has been true across all 6 of the courses I’ve been enrolled in.
