Description
It used to be that intelligence and giftedness were solely based on I.Q. and test scores. As our understanding of giftedness and the brain has expanded, the means of assessing and identifying gifted students have also expanded. In this course, “Screening, Assessment, and Identification of the Gifted”, Joyce Juntune Ph.D., draws from her vast knowledge and experience in gifted education to present invaluable tools for identifying gifted students using a variety of different methods.
In this 6-hour course, you will learn about:
- Definitions and unique characteristics of giftedness
- The role of intelligence in gifted students
- Methods of screening students for signs of giftedness
- Suggestions and guidelines for gifted programs
- Scoring tests
- Differences between testing boys and girls
And much more!

Low poverty and minority status are not the same. Even middle class minority students can lack academic language if their households communicate with this or that.

The reflective questions really made me think about how I could apply something in my class or think about looking at students in a different light based on characteristics portrayed and how constant observation can help identify students who might excel with the right supports.

with budget cuts time restraints and standardized testing I truly miss going to a workshop like this for a couple of days in the summer or during the year. I teach year round plus summer and I’m a golf coach. I loved this training. I started Wednesday and stayed up till 4 am the past 2 days. I enjoyed her stories, energy she talked like the kids then changed her voice and talked like a teacher. She is amazing. Thank you so much!!!!!
