With the right tools, gifted students can take on a journey into a lifelong adventure of self-led learning. Self-regulation offers students the freedom to understand the world and their role in it in a dynamic way. It’s the process by which students engage in appropriate actions, thoughts, feelings and behaviors, in order to pursue valuable academic goals.

In this 1-hour course, you will learn:

  • The definition of self-regulation
  • How to understand the obstacles your students face
  • Teaching strategies for self-regulated learning

    Gifted Students come from all types of backgrounds. Some students are very bright, but have an unstable home environment which hinders their ability to learn. We need to create a safe welcoming environment in order to facilitate a healthy learning atmosphere.

    I particularly liked how he clarified the homework aspect. In providing homework to my students, I have found that not all students complete it when assigned. So assigning homework like reading 20 minutes or an actual project, I feel will hold them more accountable to complete while builiding on their reading fluency and comprehension that could also, build on critical inquiry in the long run.
