I didn’t have clarity regarding the question below that was being asked in activity 10 (it was question 4 of 8) so I did get it wrong.
“Is it considered sexual harassment to talk negatively about the sexual orientation of another?”
I guess the way it was worded wasn’t clear for me especially sense I didn’t recall seeing information specific to it before this question was asked of me. Afterwards I saw information about it and I then understood that you all were referring to a student or staff member being made fun of, berated, or belittled for their sexual orientation (This is wrong and I don’t tolerate stuff like that in my classroom and I don’t do it to others). However, is the way the question is worded could be taken different ways . For example, if two high school students who are friends talking at lunch (or after school it on or off campus) about various topics and sexual orientation comes up one friend says to the other one he/she doesn’t agree with a specific sexual orientation but another student in their class happens to be of that sexual orientation (and both students in this conversation know this other classmate is of that sexual orientation). Now this student hasn’t belittled, berated, assaulted, or done any physical or emotional harm to the to the classmate that is of that orientation. He or she just expressed he/she doesn’t agree with the sexual orientation. Is that student now guilty of sexual harassment for simply sharing his beliefs or opinions with a friend at lunch (after school or on or off campus)?
I guess the problem for me was the word negatively, because it can be subjective where as when the other examples that I stated are more concrete (specific). I could just be overthinking this but I wanted to let you all know how I felt regarding to that question and why I got the answer wrong.
