Description
It seems we’re always changing things in education, from switching out labels (goodbye, non-fiction!), to the benchmarks we expect students to meet. You probably have questions about Common Core State Standards, and you almost certainly know parents who have questions (and opinions) about them! Get a firm grasp on CCSS so you can be equipped to understand, explain, and get the most out of them.
In this course you will learn:
- Common Core State Standards 101
- What is and isn’t part of CCSS
- Reasons for the new standards
- How to apply CCSS to your classroom
- Using CCSS anchors to help you differentiate

It was a good course, but a little long.

This is a very complex and enlightening course, however I believe it has a specific audience and it should be mentioned in the title. Being from Texas, I am not aware of common core. I do, however understand standards of teaching that we have to do and this presentation put it into perspective.
Brian – BETHEL LOCAL (verified owner) –
This was a helpful course
Chelsey – IRONTON CITY (verified owner) –
This was so helpful in understanding the motivation behind Common Core and how it can help my students.
Ida – LOS FRESNOS CISD (verified owner) –
Great presenter, a lot was connected to English so it was hard to see how it fit in my subject but it was informative. Also, most of my uploads failed so I am not sure what to do about that.

Gloria – WESLACO ISD (verified owner) –
It’s a helpful refresher course and will clear up a few misconceptions if a teacher may have any.
Miguel – WESLACO ISD (verified owner) –
Although, Texas follows different CCRS; I did see how Texas’ CCRS guide is similar to the one widely used in the US. It did make me realize that we are uniformed throughout the country and are targeting the same goals. I will continue to focus on standards are I teach the coming years.
Cynthia – WESLACO ISD (verified owner) –
It was great, but the presenter needs to work on her repeating of certain words…ie. Like, Like, Like
Jeffrey – CONROE ISD (verified owner) –
While the course was good for Common-Core specific, working in Texas is a bit different. (Of Course!!) So, taking moments to translate between their layout and ours took some effort. Also, being a dual credit teacher, I have additional sets of skills/outcomes/requirements that complicate matters even more for me. Overall, this was solid though.

Excellent information. I feel like it mores more about Common Core and less about College and Career Readiness – although they go hand-in-hand.
Amanda – SOUTHWEST ISD (verified owner) –
I really liked the presenter and I think that she did a wonderful job, but the title of this course is completely misleading. This had nothing to do with College and Career Readiness. It was all about Common Core. I teach in Texas and we do not use this.
Jerry – LAREDO ISD (verified owner) –

Great presenter! It just wasn’t what I was expecting by the title. We do not have common core standards in Texas; however, this would be very beneficial for the states that do.
