In this 1-hour course, Lisa Van Gemert breaks down the four most common mental health issues that impact students. An advocate for gifted students, Ms. Van Gemert describes strategies for educators to support and equip gifted students who are struggling to cope in the classroom and out of it.

This course will enable you to:

  • Understand the complexity of adolescent mental health diagnoses 
  • Appreciate the interplay between therapy, medication and behavioral techniques

    I think this course is very interesting especially for new teachers. We all can learn how to best help students that have a behavior disorder. It is very important to learn how to handle difficult situations in the classroom and remaining composed and in control of difficult situations to better help a child calm down.
