Description
What does being a lawyer have to do with teaching? Educator and lawyer Colin Seale says that some of the principles lawyers use in their work can also be used in the classroom to help your students build their critical thinking skills. In the course “Thinking Like a Lawyer – Powerful and Practical Strategies to Teach Critical Thinking to All Students,” educators will discover why critical thinking skills are so important for today’s students and how to cultivate them effectively. Mr. Seale presents teachers with activities and examples to help them build their critical thinking toolboxes.
In this course, you will learn about:
- The definition of critical thinking
- How to prepare your students to be critical thinkers
- Strategies for enhancing critical thinking and student engagement in your classroom
- The Chair Case

For a quick one-hour session, this was great to build the foundation of Seale’s framework for critical thinking. I think it would be best to follow up with a deeper dive into the various strategies. I also highly recommend that participants read his book either before or after completing this session. It is also so necessary to have practical teaching strategies to improve equity in the classroom.
