Thinking Outside the Book is an ideal course for educators looking for resources to guide students toward creating unique and complex assignments. You’ll learn to lead them to have a deeper response to quality literature, which will ultimately help their love and respect for reading.
In this one-hour course you will learn to incorporate a variety of media to differentiate responses and push your students toward thinking and creating outside the book.

This is a great course at providing different examples of ways to challenge to think more about what they are reading and connect it to the world around them, much like doing a Close Read. Just keep in mind it is geared more towards upper elementary through high school.

It has a lot of good ideas but maybe separate it into an elementary course and a middle school/intermediate course. Several of the ideas, while very good, were just not applicable to the lower elementary students.
