As a child who grew up in poverty, I was in a gifted program but never once heard about how gifted students learn. I just knew that my scores were high enough to be bussed to a different school. My parents were never told either much more than that either. I’ve since learned more as an educator however, still not in this way. This course not only gave me some clarity about some of my own “quirks” but has also made me reflect on what my daughter (who has also qualified for GT) experiences and how I can support her as well as the students and teachers that I serve.
